Banjo Kazooie Smash Bros and Animal Crossing Switch are the rumours that Nintendo Switch fans are hoping come true in the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
The House of Mario are currently getting ready for a big Nintendo Direct that will be taking place soon.
The Nintendo Direct for September 2018 will be kicking off at 11pm BST today in the UK.
You can watch all the action unfold as it happens by clicking here to be directed to the Nintendo Direct page that you need to visit.
But ahead of the Nintendo Direct taking place the internet has been abuzz with rumours about what could get announced by the Big N.
There is one rumour in particular that has sent Nintendo Switch fans wild, and it’s all got to do with Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
The upcoming brawler is one of Ninty’s biggest releases for 2018, however there are a few characters in the roster that haven’t been revealed yet.
Last time out during a Nintendo Direct Simon Belmont and King K Rool were announced as coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
Banjo Kazooie Smash Bros and Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch – Big reveals for September Direct?
And fans have been left wondering whether Banjo Kazooie could be one of the unannounced characters for Smash Bros Ultimate.
Throughout today Switch fans have been taking to Twitter tweeting their hopes for this rumour to come true alongside the hashtag #BanjoforSmash.
This previously may have seemed like a pipe dream as the rights to Banjo Kazooie lie with Microsoft.
Since the glory of days of the N64 when Rare pumped out many beloved classics, Microsoft has since taken ownership of the developer.
Banjo Kazooie is rumoured to be coming to Super Smash Bros Ultimate
And with Microsoft and Nintendo rivals in the console wars it may have seemed unlikely that Banjo would appear on a current Ninty console.
But back in March Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, was asked on Twitter whether Microsoft would let Banjo Kazooie appear in Smash Bros Ultimate.
And he simply and clearly replied: “Yep”.
Elsewhere, rumours have resurfaced that Nintendo could be about to announce Animal Crossing Switch during the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
Banjo Kazooie would be a hugely popular addition to Super Smash Bros Ultimate
It’s been awhile since Animal Crossing fans have been treated to a new, fully-fledged entry in the beloved series.
The last mainline Animal Crossing game – A New Leaf – was released back in 2012 on the 3DS.
The Wii U did have an Animal Crossing game called Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, but this was a spin-off party game.
Animal Crossing is one of the few Nintendo franchises that doesn’t have a presence right now on the Switch, but that could all change soon.
Animal Crossing has been long rumoured as coming to the Nintendo Switch
As reported in a post by Nintendo Soup, rumours have surfaced that Animal Crossing Switch could get revealed in the September 2018 Direct.
And ahead of the Nintendo Direct kicking off Tom Phillips, news editor at Eurogamer, tweeted a link to the site’s article about the Direct.
Alongside it he posted: “I’ll be crossing off the hours!”
While a ResetERA forum member known as king zell posted: “Well, I heard that tomorrow maybe the day and we might see some Animals!!! But am not sure.”
Animal Crossing – Could the September Nintendo Direct reveal Animal Crossing Switch?
Elsewhere Nintendo has recently trademarked the names of four titles: Wrecking Crew, Rhythm Heaven, Mario Super Sluggers and Golden Sun.
It remains to be seen if any of these previously released games will, in some shape or form, make a surprise appearance during today’s Nintendo Direct.
