The ITV talent show saw the live shows take place at the Hammersmith Apollo for the first time.
But not everyone thought the idea would go down a storm as Alesha admitted her and fellow judges, Amanda Holden and David Walliams were left questioning Simon Cowell’s decision.
Speaking about this year’s series of Britain’s Got Talent, Alesha told Expresss.co.uk: “What was nice this year was the fact we done it in a theatre it made a massive, massive difference for us.
“In the room, the atmosphere was electrifying!”
Despite loving the atmosphere, Alesha revealed she was shocked at the idea to change the venue.
“When Simon first said he wanted to do it at the Hammersmith Apollo we were like ‘are you sure!? How’s it going to work?’” she said.
But in the end, the mother-of-two admitted it felt right to have the live shows in the theatre in London.
She continued: “He was so right, it was fantastic. It felt like Britain’s Got Talent belonged in a theatre.”
Alesha also revealed the judges find it difficult to meet for a catch-up after they finish filming.
She said: “We do [meet up] when we can. But as soon as we finish wrapping Britain’s Got Talent we all go off doing our separate projects.
“When we get an opportunity we will always put a date in the diary to catch up. Obviously juggling our diaries is difficult but when we can we love to catch up.”
The singer, who has partnered up with Always on their latest period poverty campaign, also spilled all on her friendship with Amanda.
Alesha, 39, divulged: “She’s my girl! We have got a great relationship, always got each other’s back and we support one another as we all do.”
The mother-of-one is currently busy working with Always as the brand vows to donate a further five million sanitary products to schools.
Their latest campaign revealed the detrimental affects period poverty can have on young girls as their research showed having difficult access to sanitary products at a young age could lead to depression and anxiety in later life.
Talking about ways in which this could be prevented, Alesha said: “I think the government have a big part to play.”
She continued: “Someone like myself, I had free school dinners for example, I don’t see why the schools can’t be given a budget where they can buy sanitary products.
“And a young girl who is from a low income family, can have that one on one chat with her school nurse and can be prescribed with sanitary products
“For me that’s a simple way of dealing with it, for me it’s not brain science.”
Alesha added: “I think generally schools have a responsibility for the well-being of girls, not just academically but their health as well.”
Alesha is supporting Always’ #EndPeriodPoverty campaign. For every pack sold by September 16, Always will donate a pad to schoolgirls in need.
