If you can believe it, the show you turned on the second you got off the bus from school, ate your afternoon snack to and definitely rewatched more times than was logical, Clarissa Explains It All, debuted 25 years ago this month. And to celebrate that quarter-century milestone, not to mention the fact that it’s Throwback Thursday, we’re celebrating Clarissa’s most colorful, crazy, very ’90s outfits that we think would look totally wearable today.
Yes, those signature floral-print crop tops, choker necklaces and crazy plaids are all back in style. Allow us to explain (cue: Na, na, na na naaaa…)

The outfit: Plaid checkered pants with red suspenders and blue undershirt.
PeopleStyle explains it all: Here’s how to make this very Steve Urkel-esque outfit work in 2016. Keep the suspenders in the back of your closet and reach instead for cute River Island overalls ($ 50). This citrus emulates the colorfulness of Clarissa’s pants, but sticks to the hue of the moment (that would be bright orange), while a blue plaid shirt from Current/Elliot ($ 198) shade incorporates the grid pattern in more a modern take. (And great news: Last fall’s creepers work with this outfit, according to Clarissa Darling.)
Nickelodeon/Everett Collection; MOTO/Topshop
The outfit: Two tone denim jacket.
PeopleStyle explains it all: It’s a basic fashion fact: denim jackets will never, ever go out of style. But the reason a blue and pink jacket still looks so cool today is because it follows the distressed jean trend going on. This Topshop acid print jacket ($ 85) is an updated take on Clarissa’s (but if you are looking for the direct 2016 interpretation of two-toned, ombré, shop this Rag & Bone cropped topper ($ 123).

The outfit: Off-the-shoulder printed blouse.
PeopleStyle explains it all: Shoulder-baring tops are still sassy, still a subtle way to show skin and can still be seen on countless stars. Which explains why a celeb-loved brand like Reformation ($ 128) has a ton of options to chose from for spring.

The accessory: A black choker necklace.
PeopleStyle explains it all: We can’t even keep up with the number of celebs bringing the ’90s back with the simple neck accessory (but we’ll name a few: Kendall Jenner, Behati Prinsloo, Vanessa Hudgens and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley). So make like these stars (and of course, Clarissa!), get Lulu’s rhinestone number ($ 16) and get with the times. Way cool!
