DeAndre Jordan: NBA insider reveals update on LA Clippers star’s future

Jordan needs to decide tonight if he wants to remain with the Clippers.

Should the 2017 NBA All-Star opt-out, he would become a free agent.

Dallas Mavericks are likely to be interested in Jordan, and now NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has provided on update on his status.

Wojnarowski, who works for ESPN, tweeted: “Sources: DeAndre Jordan still deliberating his Clippers $ 24.1M option with deadline approaching at 11:59 PM.

“Talks on a sign-and-trade could pick up again, but dormant today. Jordan could opt-out and sign free agent deal w/ Mavericks, or opt-in and work with Clippers on a trade.”

Jordan spurned the Mavericks in 2015 free agency despite making an oral commitment to join the side.

It’s believed the Dallas side are focusing on brining in an established centre and they could have more than $ 25million in cap space.

The Mavericks have been in communication with Jordan’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, but a trade with the Clippers is reportedly a problem.

That leaves a free agency option as potentially their only chance to acquire 29-year-old Jordan.

And soon after his earlier tweet, Wojnarowski reported Jordan will opt-out of his LA Clipper contract.

Jordan was part of the USA squad that won Olympic Gold in 2016.

He has been with the Clippers since being drafted by the LA side in 2008.
