Southgate is set to name his squad for the World Cup this afternoon and the Liverpool youngster is getting the nod.

His place in the squad looks likely to come at Gary Cahill’s expense.

And it’s bad news for John Stones, Luke Shaw and Danny Welbeck. The data highlights that due to a lack of playing time and underwhelming performances, they DO NOT deserve a place in the 23 man England squad.
However, it is good news for Swansea’s Tammy Abraham and newly relegated Stoke keeper Jack Butland. The data has them as priority England Squad members who should definitely make the cut.
Free Super Tips 23 man squad
Goalkeepers: Jack Butland, Jordan Pickford, Ben Foster
Defenders: Michael Keane, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young, Kieran Trippier, Phil Jones, Harry Maguire, Gary Cahill
Midfielders: Fabian Delph, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson, Jesse Lingard, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Eric Dier, Jack Wilshere, Dele Alli
Forwards: Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham, Callum Wilson, Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford
11.05: Ryan Sessegnon has missed out on a place in the World Cup, according to BBC correspondent David Ornstein.
He tweeted: “No place for Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon in 23-man England squad or back-ups that Gareth Southgate names today. Seen as a sensible decision for 17yo left sided player who’s scored 16 goals in 51 appearances this season & could yet help #FFC to PL in Champ play-off final #ENG.”
10.20: Jack Wilshere has tweeted regarding his absence from the England, pretty much confirming he is not going to Russia.
Wilshere has now confirmed that news with a cheeky tweet about making alternative plans for when the World Cup is on.
A Twitter user asked Wilshere: “Oright lad i know you’re not off World Cup so fancy coming Zante with me and the lads let me know sound x”
And the 26-year-old replied with crying laughing emojis, adding: “Let me know the dates and I’m in.”
09.50: Gary Lineker reckons Southgate should take the kids, because England have got no chance of success in Russia anyway.
“If I was Gareth Southgate I would sell this on youngsters,” he said. “I’d say, ‘This is an experience’. I would totally take the pressure off them.
“I would say, ‘This is all about experience, we are not going to do particularly well, we are not going to win this World Cup’. I would play lots of these talented young players.
“Bring Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ryan Sessegnon, bring the youngsters and give them that little bit of experience.”
09.30: Even though England do not have to declare their final squad until June 4 to satisfy FIFA regulations, Southgate has chosen to go early in order to ensure the group that meet up at St George’s Park next week do not see the pre-tournament friendlies against Nigeria and Costa Rica as a trial but more an opportunity to work together.
Southgate, 47, has spent the last 48 hours contacting those players who he felt duty-bound to tell personally they had missed out after their contribution to the qualifying campaign.
The FA are keeping tight-lipped about the names who will be confirmed later today although news of disappointment was bound to seep out.
09.15: Gareth Southgate has left a number of senior England players stunned by overlooking them in favour of the next generation as he unveils his final 23 for Russia today.
Joe Hart is the highest-profile casualty after struggling to nail down a regular place in West Ham’s team while out on loan from Manchester City this season.
Jack Wilshere is understood to have been another senior figure to miss out on Southgate’s squad, even with the withdrawal Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from midfield through injury.
Southgate broke the bad news to Hart in a face-to-face meeting on Monday, with Burnley’s Nick Pope joining Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland in the three goalkeeper berths.
Southgate had always pledged to pick the players who had come up through the ranks of the junior England sides and Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold appears to be the main beneficiary.
The 19-year-old’s impressive role in guiding the Merseyside club to the Champions League final looks to have booked him a late seat as cover for Kieran Trippier, with Kyle Walker’s switch to a centre-back now considered a permanent move in the international set-up after a successful trial in March.
09.00. Hello and welcome to Express Sports coverage of the England World Cup squad announcement.
We will be bringing you all the news in the build up to the squad, as well as live comments from the press conference and all the reaction to the squad.
We already know that Joe Hart and Jack Wilshere have missed out on a place in the 23 and believe they are not going to be included as back up options.
