Fortnite Save the World season 6 countdown has begun
Free codes may not have arrived yet in Fortnite Save the World, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some major updates coming later this week.
Season 6 of STW has been teased by Epic Games over the past week, with the latest news confirming fresh events and 2FA rewards.
It looks like the next 10 weeks are going to be filled with new events to take on and new characters to unlock.
Epic Games are also planning on launching some new features, as well as expand the player base in new ways.
FORTNITE SAVE THE WORLD SEASON 6
There have also been some pretty announcements concerning Fortnite and crossplay on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Sony has now confirmed that they have started testing Fortnite crossplay with all major platforms.
And it looks like this will affect Save the World players too.
While not mentioned in the official statement, the new open beta looks set to extend to STW.
Season 6 of Fortnite will include new crossplay
We’re still waiting on official confirmation, but current Save the World crossplay is in place.
Currently, PC players can join console players in-game through the Epic Games client, although it doesn’t appear to work the other way round.
This would suggest that Fortnite Save the World will also get access to crossplay, which could prove very handy.
Widening the player pool by opening up the console markets to each other is sure to make matchmaking easier.
“Following a comprehensive evaluation process, SIE has identified a path toward supporting cross-platform features for select third party content,” the Sony statement reads.
“We recognize that PS4 players have been eagerly awaiting an update, and we appreciate the community’s continued patience as we have navigated through this issue to find a solution.
“The first step will be an open beta beginning today for Fortnite that will allow for cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems.”
The Season 6 update arrives tomorrow
And Epic Games themselves had said they are ready to change how Fortnite account management works.
During season 6, Fortnite accounts will see two major updates released that should make playing the game a bit easier.
While they’re more tailor-made for Battle Royale, they could still prove useful to players on both games.
Other changes that could occur during season 6 is the launch of Save the World being a free-to-play game.
This is scheduled to happen in 2018, with no current news on a release date.
That season 6 will last most of the remainder of this year, it stands to reason it could happen in the coming weeks.
But while the F2P revolution might start during season 6, it isn’t expected to launch on release day.
Tomorrow, September 27, is when season 6 begins and will include a new event kicking off in Save the World.
There has been no mention made of the big F2P update, but there has been plenty of information provided on the start of the season.
The original Fortnite mode was announced to be following in the footsteps of Battle Royale by adopting the F2P this year, and the latest can be found on this official Epic Games website.
More Fortnite events are being released this week
However, we know that Fortnite update 6.0 will be launched on Thursday, September 27.
Here’s the latest on what will be included in that patch, with the development team confirming: “In v6.0 (Thursday, 9/27) we will be introducing a mini event that we’re calling “Cram Session”.
“This event will not have any special llamas or tickets and will be focused on gathering resources to prepare for the events ahead.
During Cram Session, you’ll earn increased rewards by Completing Miniboss Mission Alerts (Going back to 10 alerts for this event). These Alerts will grant double the normal amounts of XP, Evolution Materials, Perk Materials, and will grant Gold.
“Complete the four quest lines. These quests have ten stages each which grant significant one-time rewards on completion. (Hero/Schematic/Survivor XP, Evolution Materials, or Gold).”
Epic Games has also confirmed that fans can earn more slots and a free Llama by enabling 2FA on their account.
The rewards for adding two-form authentication to your account includes:
