Frank Ocean used the second episode of his Beats 1 radio show Blonded to debut “Chanel,” the singer’s first new solo song since the dual release of his Endless and Blonde.
“I see both sides like Chanel,” Ocean sings on the hook over a dizzying piano melody, muffled beats and swirling background vocals. “2016 burnt like some discs / 2017 playing off a Walkman / This a cult, not a clique on the net.”
During the outro, Ocean sings, “I got new money / And it’s all cash / I got new bags / And they all collabs / I rubber band thousand dollar Delta gift cards.”
“Chanel” is available to stream on all digital music services or purchase on iTunes. The track follows Ocean’s appearance alongside Migos on Calvin Harris’ “Slide.”
The episode of Blonded also featured music by Thundercat, J Dilla, DJ Shadow and Whitney Houston, whose “Exhale” Ocean discussed prior to broadcasting the song. While rhe first episode of Blonded did not feature new Ocean music, the singer did share a conversation between himself and Jay Z about the modern state of pop radio.
Following the song’s premiere – it played 18 times during the second half of Blonded‘s two-hour runtime, with an A$ AP Rocky “Chanel” remix hidden within the marathon – Ocean took to Tumblr to post the song’s lyrics as well as some accompanying artwork:
