‘s affinity for wild cats
get him in trouble
with PETA again?
Here’s the backstory: Earlier this month, Bieber, 22, was publicly scolded by the animal rights organization for
posing with a Bengal tiger
because the exotic animal’s owner is currently facing animal cruelty charges.
On Wednesday, the pop star was spotted playing with Alex the Lion, a white lion cub, before his Toronto concert.
“After being fed by Justin Beiber [sic], Alex is one of JB’s biggest fans! Justin really cares about the conservation of these beautiful animals! He is truly a class act and awesome guy!” the lion cub’s owner, Alex Haditaghi, captioned the video of the “Baby” singer on Instagram.
Haditaghi and Bieber’s paths have crossed before. In fact, Haditaghi and Alex the Lion were at the same event Bieber was when he posed with the “abused” Bengal tiger as seen on Instagram.
PETA previously released
a statement on their website
condemning Bieber’s play date with the tiger. “Exotic animals used for entertainment are usually torn away from their mothers at a young age, beaten into submission by trainers, and forced to live in cramped enclosures,” PETA wrote.
Adding, “Tigers used in this way are denied everything that they need to be happy, and we can only imagine that the tiger Justin posed with has experienced a life of misery. We’re calling on Justin and his family never to use animals as selfie props or party entertainment again.”
