Multiple people have reportedly been injured after an explosion took place in New York City on Saturday night.
The explosion happened on 23rd street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan – a popular nightlife area that is usually bustling on Saturday night. It is unclear what caused the explosion.
and several on-the-scene reporters on Twitter have claimed that there have been multiple injuries.
The FDNY confirmed that 25 people were injured and that none appeared to be life-threatening.

claims that a dumpster explosion blew out the windows of a nearby building.
The New York Police Department Counterterrorism unit confirmed on Twitter that the NYPD were
responding to an explosion
in the area.
Shortly after the explosion,
the MTA announced
that they had suspended subway service for the 1 and 2 trains between downtown Manhattan and 34th street due to the incident.
The explosion comes just hours after a “pipe-bomb type device” exploded ahead of
a charity race
in Seaside Park, New Jersey, on Saturday morning. Seaside Park is roughly 84 miles south of Manhattan. No injuries were reported during the Seaside Park incident although the charity run – which was organized to benefit Marines – had to be canceled.
