The tournament has no fixed home and tours around courses chosen by the the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) with Bellerive Country Club this year’s host.
It is just the second time the Missouri course has hosted the PGA Championship with the last edition there coming back in 1992 when Zimbabwe’s Nick Price triumphed by three shots.
On that occasion, it was John Daly who failed to defend his title; this time around, another big-hitting American Justin Thomas will be the man hoping to become the first to win consecutive PGA crowns since Tiger Woods in 2006 and 2007.
So here’s how to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the action.
Sky Sports lost the rights to golf’s “other” major two years ago and in 2017 UK fans came dangerously close to not being able to watch the tournament at all.
The BBC picked up the rights at the last minute and produced widely-criticised, minimalist coverage of the event.
However, the UK home broadcaster have not picked up the rights this time and instead the golf will be shown by Eleven Sports, a new face to most in the sports world.
The company is partially owned by Andrea Radrizzani, who is also the majority owner of Leeds United.
Justin Thomas will defend his PGA Championship title at Bellerive
They have previously picked up rights to international events in smaller countries, but in 2018 have taken three-year deals to broadcast La Liga, Serie A, Eredivisie and Chinese Super League matches in the UK – as well as the PGA Championship.
But they do not have a channel and will not be broadcasting the golf on TV
Eleven Sports will be streaming the first two rounds of the tournament live for free on Facebook through their Eleven Sports UK Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ElevenSportsUK) starting at 1.30pm each day.
But if you want to watch all four rounds online, you will need a subscription to the streaming service.
They are currently running a seven-day free trial, which means UK fans who have not yet signed up could watch all of the golf for free.
Alternatively, if you do want to sign up, there is an “early bird” offer available until August 31: it means you can either pay £5.99 per month or £49.99 for a year’s worth of access.

A change of shirt paid dividends for Tiger Woods as he recovered from a nightmare start to his opening round of the 100th US PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club.
Woods, who is seeking a 15th major title and a first since 2008, was among the early starters hoping to make a flying start in sweltering conditions in St Louis, only to drop three shots in his first two holes.
But after changing his drenched shirt in a players’ bathroom between the 11th green and 12th tee, Woods fought back to card a level-par 70 to lie six shots off the clubhouse lead held by fellow American Gary Woodland.
Woodland was one over par after seven holes before reeling off seven birdies in the next 10 on his way to a superb 64.
Brooks Koepka and Charl Schwartzel equalled the lowest score in tournament history as the 100th US PGA Championship turned into a shootout in St Louis.
Koepka’s flawless 63 left the double US Open champion two shots off the clubhouse lead held by fellow American Gary Woodland, whose 10-under-par halfway total of 130 established a championship record.
Woodland enjoyed a one-shot lead over compatriot Kevin Kisner, who bogeyed the last to shoot 64, with Schwartzel three off the lead alongside world number one Dustin Johnson and Thomas Pieters after eight birdies and a bogey in his 63.
Thunderstorms then forced play to be suspended mid-afternoon and later abandoned for the day, with the second round set to resume at 7am local time (1pm BST) on Saturday. Tiger Woods had completed seven holes in three under par, with playing partner Rory McIlroy carding seven pars.
Jordan Spieth found some form at the Open but is still not in the top five in the betting
Tiger Woods took route 66 towards a first major title since 2008 as a late stumble from Brooks Koepka threw the 100th US PGA Championship wide open.
Looking to join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Woods as the only players to win the US Open and US PGA in the same season, Koepka had raced to the turn in 30 and briefly enjoyed a five-shot lead at Bellerive Country Club.
And although he repaired some of the damage caused by dropped shots on the 14th and 15th with a birdie on the 17th, a third round of 66 left the 28-year-old American on 12 under par, just two shots ahead of former world number one Adam Scott.
Koepka’s lapse also brought many more players into the frame, with halfway leader Gary Woodland, Spain’s Jon Rahm and Rickie Fowler on nine under and Woods four off the pace alongside defending champion Justin Thomas, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, Jason Day, Stewart Cink and Charl Schwartzel.
