Pokemon Go developer Niantic began introducing creatures from the fourth generation Sinnoh region on Tuesday (October 16), meaning players can finally get their hands on 24 brand new characters for their Pokedex.
As with Generation 3, new Pokemon are being released in waves, meaning more and more will appear over time.
Generation 4 could offer 107 new Pokemon, making it the second largest addition of new creatures to the game since its debut in 2016.
This could top the 80 or so added to Pokemon Go with Generation 2.
As the name suggests, the latest release is from the franchise’s fourth generation of games – Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum – and will feature many favourites from previous generations, as well as some new baby Pokemon and brand new Legendary creatures.
So far, creatures from previous generations that have Generation 4 evolutions cannot yet be evolved.
The latest batch of Pokemon has similar traits to previous generations.
There are three Grass, Fire and Water starters – all with two evolutions each – and the usual mix of birds and bugs alongside a fleet of powerful Legendaries.
But certain features set the new arrivals apart from previous generations.
The creatures will feature a large number of evolutions from previous generations – a staggering 22 in total.
There are also six baby Pokemon, which all evolve into Pokemon from previous generations.
Two new Eevee evolutions will return, marking the first new evolutions since Generation 2
And there are nine Legendaries, and five Mythical Pokémon – both more than any previous generation to date
But some Pokemon cannot be spotted in the wild, so here is a guide to help you catch them all.
This is a list of every Pokemon that has so far been seen in the wild, hatched from an egg, or met in a raid.
Turtwig, Grotle, Torterra
Piplup, Prinplup, Empoleon
Chimchar, Monferno, Infernape
Starly, Staravia, Staraptor
Riolu (Egg only)
Luxio (Egg only)
Shinx (Raid only)
Niantic said: “The world of Pokemon GO is evolving once again!
“This week, keep an eye out for Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region, featured in Pokemon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, and Pokémon Platinum!
“Get ready to see Pokemon like Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup as they appear in Pokemon GO for the first time ever.”
The game developers added more discoveries from the Sinnoh region are waiting to be found.
