After Kanye West debuted his new fashion line at the Yeezy Season 5 show, pop singer Sia tweeted at him about the “sad … reality of fur fashion.” “Dear @kanyewest would you consider going fur free?” the singer asked, linking a YouTube clip titled “Under the Fur Coats: Rabbits’ Screams of Death.” (As Pitchfork reports, the Yeezy Season 5 line appears to include both fur coats and accessories.)
Last June, Sia tweeted the same video at West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, writing, “Hey @KimKardashian I think you’re lovely. Would you consider going fur free? This is what animals go through for it.” In December, after Azealia Banks posted an Instagram video showing her closet filled with with chicken remains, Sia tweeted, “Sacrificing animals for your gain is the wackest shit I’ve ever heard.”
Last month, Sia released “Move Your Body,” the club-friendly fourth single from her seventh LP, 2016’s This Is Acting. West, meanwhile, ended 2016 with a bizarre achievement: Along with celebrity deaths and President Trump, his album The Life of Pablo ranked as one of Wikipedia’s most-edited pages.
