Less than 24 hours after husband
41-month prison sentence for fraud
is staying strong and focusing on family.
A new photo shows the very last moments Teresa and Joe, both 43, spent together on Wednesday as he
to New Jersey’s Federal Correction Institution, Fort Dix, but the
Real Housewives of New Jersey
star is not dwelling on what’s past.
“Teresa and the girls are sad that Joe’s gone, but they’re doing their best to adjust,” a source tells PEOPLE.
And the mom of four has no shortage of hum around the house to keep herself and her daughters occupied: “Teresa’s keeping busy with the girls,” says the source. “Her life centers around taking care of them and making sure they get to their activities to keep as life as normal as possible for them.”
And the source adds that “the girls are pitching in a lot, which makes Teresa really happy.”
It’s no surprise that Teresa is bouncing back into family life. Back in October, when she was serving out her own nearly yearlong sentence, scenes from the three-episode Bravo special
Teresa Checks In
showed how she managed to be an incredibly hands-on mom even from a distance.
The special also showed how oldest daughter Gia, 15, was
to take care of her father and younger sisters (Gabriella, 12, Milania, 10, and Audriana, 6) while Teresa was away.
Teresa and Joe, both 43, were convicted of
in October 2014 and allowed to serve time separately. Joe’s prison stint comes just months after Teresa was released on Dec. 23 after a nearly 11-month sentence.
After beginning his sentence, Joe released a statement to PEOPLE through family attorney James J. Leonard Jr.: “It was obviously a very emotional day, but this is a very strong family with a tremendous support system and they will get through this, just as they did when Teresa was away.”
Exactly how long they’ll have to cope with the absence of their husband and father remains to be seen: Teresa herself had time shaved off her sentence, and Joe
he hopes to be out of prison in just 18 months.
