Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil has been charged with misdemeanor battery following an April incident where the singer allegedly assaulted an autograph seeker in Las Vegas.
The aftermath of that incident was notably captured by paparazzi as video caught Neil and actor Nicolas Cage sparring outside of the Aria Hotel. Neil was initially cited for battery following the scuffle, and authorities have opted to pursue the misdemeanor battery charge against the singer. If convicted, Neil could face six months in prison.
TMZ first reported the news, which was subsequently confirmed to Rolling Stone by Officer Michael Rodriguez of the Las Vegas Police Department.
“[Mr. Neil] and Mr. Cage went to Aria. A female was attempting to talk to or get an autograph from Mr. Cage,” Rodriguez tells Rolling Stone. ”Mr. Neil subsequently pulled her down to the ground by the hair.” Surveillance video from inside the hotel filmed the incident, TMZ reported.
Following that, Cage and Neil grappled outside Aria; the actor and singer reportedly got into into a “huge physical fight,” but paparazzi video only caught the pair reconciling as Cage yelled at Neil, “Stop this shit now!”
A rep for Neil did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In 2011, the singer was charged with battery and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend at a theatre; the battery charge was dropped and Neil avoided jail time after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.
